BIO

Henning Solberg

I am Henning Solberg from Askøy, just outside Bergen, Norway. Occupation: Coastguard officer.  I am a champagne collector and enthusiasts. My interests of wine comes from my aunt and uncle in Switzerland who`s been teaching me about different types of wine since I was about 15 years old. I have always been a great admirer of champagne, and about 9 years ago I built my dream house with wine cellar in the basement. I started collecting a variety of wines, but it was first after joining a trip with SAS Dreams accompanied by Richard Juhlin in 2016 my true passion for champagne came to life. My obsession is older champagnes.

Which Champagne would You treat your parents or in-laws?

‘For my parents i would choose a relatively young vintage champagne, maybe a bottle of 2008 Pierre Gimonnet & Fils ‘Millesime de Collection’ by the magnum.’

Which Champagne would You treat your lover?

‘For my first “weekend date” with my girlfriend I ordered a bottle of J.De Telmont 1969 ‘Heritage’. It was incredible “dark”, with taste a strong taste of tobacco and leather, but when it opened up it blew our minds. It became silky smooth with oaky, coffe, leathery, notes. Amazing!! And she is still my girlfriend ……’ 🙂

Which Champagne would You treat your boss?

‘Since my boss unfortuanatelly don’t drink alcohol, I would treat him with a bottle of Richard Juhlin ‘Blanc de blancs.’

Which Champagne would You treat yourself?

‘Since I prefer to share the best champagnes with friends and family who really appreciate it, I would enjoy a bottle of Charles Heidsick ‘Brut Réserve.’

Which Champagne would You treat a dream guest, and why, and who’s is Your dream guest?

‘It would be fun to share a bottle of Bollinger ‘R.D.’ 1973 with Daniel Craig. He is an amazing actor, and it would be interesting to just relax talking about the champagne and maybe talk about his experience from the James Bond movies.’

What piece of music would you listen to drinking wine in question 5 ?
