Mia Mårtensson, from Gotland, Sweden, I have been working my whole life in the restaurant industry and love it! Graduated from my Sommelier education in 1999 which really gave me a new start in my professional life. Wine has taken me around the world in so many ways, lived in South Africa for many years, then on the worlds largest privately owned Mega Yacht, The World – Residence at Sea for almost 6 years before landing on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Turks and Caicos. Here I have worked for the last 3 years as Resort Sommelier for Seven Stars Spa and Resort, I came here to build their new beverage program and wine cellar with a chefs table with focus on food and wine!
Which Champagne would You treat your parents or in-laws?
‘My parents never used to drink wine while I was growing up, then I became a sommelier and they have been in wine training for the last 20 years!
We would drink Billecart-Salmon ‘Rosé Brut’ NV, pink is the color of love which my parents always have given me, it has elegance and depth, we will be drinking it with sushi from our favourite sushi place and laugh together about life until our stomachs hurt!‘

‘He loves big wines, Bollinger ‘R.D.’ 2007, a wine which is all about being patience and allowing time to take its place for development, he has been very patience and supportive over the last 3 years with the progress of building the cellar and the program, he deserves to be treated.‘
Which Champagne would You treat yourself?
‘Jaques Selosse ‘Substance’, I adore this Champagne which I have enjoyed many times with great people over the years. It always brings me back to those special moments in my life of which I am thankful for.‘
Which Champagne would You treat a dream guest, and why?
‘Marinela Ivanova, Beverage Manager of The World, Residence at Sea. My mentor and friend, she has been one of the most important part in my professional life and we worked together for 6 years, she is coming to visit me here in TCI, I have filled my fridge with Comtes De Champagne Rosé 2006, it is just the right balance of everything!
We will be drinking this beautiful Champagne while sitting on my dock, ocean watching, just talking and laughing, being grateful!’
