Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve are two internationally acclaimed wine experts, authors of the annual guide “Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France”​ written together with a team of 10 experts. In 2005, after spending 15 years running the most important French wine magazine, Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve created bettane+desseauve, a media group which publishes notably the “Guide bettane+desseauve des vins de France” seen as the most comprehensive and influential guide in its field, working with numerous French and international newspapers. Here they taste a selection of the champagne from Veuve Fourny at La Tour d’Argent.

Veuve Fourny & Fils

Since 1955 the Fourny family has made its own champagne. Nowadays Monique and Charles Fourny make delicious champagnes from their 6.5 hectares. Organic farming, old vines, and oak barrels are the keys to their rapid success. The oaky, utra-serious wines from ‘Clos Notre Dame’ need to be given time! The hour that was accidently given to me was enough to show the beginnings of greatness in the 2012. A touch of smoky barrel and concentrated organic loveliness! Just upgraded to 4 stars thanks to its great consistency.
