Champagne Club by Richard Juhlin Uncorking a true legend – Louis Roederer ‘Cristal’ 1955 [ read the full champagne story ]
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

When a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal enters the room, the atmosphere shifts. It’s not just champagne; it’s an icon wrapped in history, royalty, and a brilliant flash of gold anti-UV cellophane.
Born from the exacting demands of Tsar Alexander II in 1876—who insisted his personal cuvée be bottled in clear, flat-bottomed crystal to prevent the concealment of explosives — Cristal is defined as much by its spectacular presentation as it is by the crystalline purity of the liquid inside.
But does the taste truly match the myth?
For Richard Juhlin and the Champagne Club, the spectacle of Cristal goes beyond the Veblen good status and the hip-hop legends. It lies in the uncompromising artistry of the Chef de Caves, who crafts this prestige cuvée exclusively from Louis Roederer’s finest farmed Grand Cru plots in only the best vintages.
Join us as we uncork the legend and dissect the sublime harmony that defines this extraordinary wine: the silky texture, the powerful saline minerality, the ethereal elegance, and the chiseled precision that make tasting Louis Roederer Cristal a truly unique and unforgettable sensory experience.

TASTING NOTE Champagne Club by Richard Juhlin – ‘During an incomparable evening at a restaurant in Stockholm, we succeeded in picking out three basically perfect Champagnes in different styles. A beautifully floral and acidly austere 1961 Salon was the first on the stage, before a Latour-like 1914 Bollinger blew away any memory of the Salon bottle. Last but not least was this perfect charmer. Simply the most perfect, caramel-sated cuvée. Once 99 points.’
–Offered in auction @ Systembolaget / Bukowskis in Sweden the 3rd of November.
