A couple of years ago, I saw a repeated feature on Swedish TV4’s program ‘1st, 2nd, 3rd’ when the host Peder Lamm tried to saber a bottle of champagne with the sharp edge of a saber. It didn’t go well to put it mildly. It took at least a dozen strokes before he succeeded.

Below is a correct technical description. Remember that safety is important.
