Every bottle tells a story. What’s Yours? Every week we interview people in the world of Champagne on their iconic bottles. Now & then TheChampagneSommelier will interview some of the true people of Champagne. He will ask a few questions about their company, their profession, current trends, etc.
This week we had a bubbly chat with Julien Launois – Champagne Paul Launois in Le Mesnil-ser-Oger. Merci Julien ! Can’t wait to visit Sarah & Julien just after the harvest in October this year.

BIO PAUL LAUNOIS
Couple of passionate winegrowers, Julien and Sarah Launois design their cuvée from family vines of Chardonnay Grand Cru grape variety planted in Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs.
From the vine to the bottle of Champagne, they strive to work as naturally as possible and to respect the environment. Their champagnes are the fruit of a high degree of requirement and refinement, which give rise to memorable tastings. The family will also be happy to welcome you for one or more nights in their 5 guest rooms.
Jean-Pierre Launois has been working the vines belonging to his family for several generations. He created the first brand “Champagne Jean-Pierre Launois” to market his bottles as a cooperator-harvester.
Julien Launois, after having worked abroad for 9 years, decides to open a new page in the history of the family house with his wife: Sarah. He wants to make his own Champagnes.
Sarah Launois is an artist, graphic designer and passionate about wine. She thus draws their new identity and creates a brand of Champagne after the name of their son: Paul Launois. In 2013, they acquired a wine building in the heart of Mesnil sur Oger. They carry out the renovation themselves and finally do their first harvest in 2015. They vinify in stainless steel vats and in barrels, experiment, assemble, taste … and from this same passion for champagne is born ‘Champagne Paul Launois’.
Champagne Paul Launois is a love story, the love of a man and a woman, the love of wine and art, the love of a son and a family.
