My hunt for new champagne experiences has brought me to the most beautiful and exciting places. My favourite memories are linked to the moments when I enjoyed well selected champagnes in harmony with the beauty of nature. For a long time I have been analyzing why a certain champagne tastes best at a particular time in a particular place. Travelling to optimize champagne experiences is the starting point for the book. I have called this concept CHAMPAGNE HIKING.

2004 Krug ’Millésime’ | KrugID 116006 | 93[95]p
’Krug is more than a Champagne. It is a word that stands for artistry, tradition, craftsmanship, and moments of pure pleasure. All Krug’s wines are small masterworks, and although ’Grande Cuvée’ may be lighter and fresher than its predecessor, ’Private Cuvée’, after a few extra years in the cellar it outshines the competitors’ vintage Champagnes.’ Krug 2004 is the last vintage in the second vintage trilogy in the history of the house. The first vintages where 1988, 1989 & 1990 and the second trilogy is 2002, 2003 & 2004. A very young and delicate wine that will require some time before you release the cork. In the current state extremely mineral-driven and sea-splashed. Iodine, oyster shells, and shy toasty notes in the fragrance. Crispy clean and beautiful balanced flavor. Impressive acidity and lovely elegance. So delicate and delicious. A lighter version but still so Krug! Love drinking this now when the air is crisp and beautiful. If the opportunity arises, never miss the chance to drink a Krug!’
