This September, all eyes in the fine wine world are on New York as Christie’s presents an extraordinary two-day auction: The Glorious Cellar of a European Connoisseur. This isn’t just a sale; it’s a window into the passion of a collector with a highly educated palate, who spent two decades amassing a cellar intended to be shared and enjoyed.
The collection is a treasure trove for Burgundy lovers, featuring over 1,000 lots from one of Europe’s most extensive cellars. You’ll find everything from iconic producers like Domaine Georges Roumier to under-the-radar gems, with remarkable highlights including full cases of Echézeaux from Emmanuel Rouget 2009 and 2010, and a rare case of Clos de Vougeot from Prieuré Roch.
Beyond the stunning breadth of Burgundy, the sale offers a superb selection of wines from other regions, including a fantastic offering 152 lots of Champagne from Krug, Philipponnat, and Salon. The Rhône is also well-represented with sought-after bottles from Rayas, Chave, and Guigal. Finally, the auction features a collection of Italian icons, including Soldera, Giacosa, and Giacomo Conterno.
With impeccable provenance—the vast majority of lots were purchased on release and stored in perfect condition at Octavian—this sale promises to be a landmark event. It’s a rare opportunity to acquire bottles from a collection built on the belief that great wine tells a story and is meant to be celebrated.
Join in this September 25 and 26 as Christie’s celebrate this truly glorious cellar.
