Champagne Frerejean Frères was founded by the last generation members of a long line of cannon-makers who supplied the French army when defending against the Prussians during the Napoleonic Wars and are relatives from the Taittinger family. The founders began to make their Champagne for friends and family but, once word started to spread, they officially went into business in 2005.The small-scale production is based around the famous village Grauves in the Côte des Blancs. The champagne has an impressive storage period of 5 years. The winemaker and main owner Didier Pierson owns land in Grauves and produces only Champagne with Premier Cru grapes coming from Piersons wineyards. However, the champagne tastes like a cousin of the great houses. Good though a bit expensive champagnes.The production process honours the land as the approach minimises the use of chemicals and pesticides on the vines in the unique terroir of the Côte des Blancs region.
