Every Friday TheChampagneSommelier will ask 5 questions about 5 coeur de bouteilles to friends and Champagne lovers from near and far. This Friday we had a champagne chat with David White aka terroirist.com.

David White is the founder and editor of Terroirist.com, an award winning wine blog. He is also the author of But First, Champagne: A Modern Guide to the World’s Favorite Wine. A contributor to Grape Collective, David’s writing has appeared in dozens of publications, including The World of Fine Wine, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and Punch.

Which Champagne would You treat your parents or in-laws?

‘R.H. Coutier ’Grand Cru Brut’ Rosé. It always brings a smile to those who enjoy it — and, for Champagne, it’s a steal.’

Which Champagne would You treat your lover?

‘Krug ’Grande Cuvée’. There isn’t a more consistently delicious wine in the world!’

Which Champagne would You treat your boss?

‘Pierre Gimonnet & Fils ‘Spécial Club’, as that wine helps tell the story of the past, present, and future of Champagne.’

Which Champagne would You treat yourself?

Jacques Selosse ’Substance’. It’s always captivating and compelling. It’s probably my desert Island wine.’

Which Champagne would You treat a dream guest, and why?

I’d invite Bruce Springsteen over for Dosnon’s ’Revolte Noire Brut Nature’. Davy Dosnon has an extraordinary, up-from-the-bootstraps story that’s straight out of a Springsteen song.’
