BIO

I am the owner, writer and administrator of the Instagram account @champagnenorway. I went to culinary school as a teenager, so flavour has always been a part of me. Later I have studied History and have a special interest in the wartime history of France and Europe.

I had my first bottle of Dom Perignon 1995 about 15 years ago (when it was still fresh). Since then i had an interest in wine, but it didn’t start for real until 5 years ago. from that point on Champagne has been a part of my day almost every day in one way or another.

About 3 years ago i started this Instagram account, just because i wanted to share a picture of one nice bottle of champagne every day. Some days i share my own photos and tasting notes and some days i share other instagramers photos.

More recently I have Joined the wine club Vitis Polaris formed in 1991 and located in Bodø Norway. With lots of knowledgeable and enthusiastic members, it helps me to learn even more about different wine regions and of course Champagne is widely loved in the club.

Which Champagne would You treat your parents or in-laws?

‘My parents claim that they are not to picky, but i know they enjoy the classics cuvées from classic houses the most. So when I treat my parent i know, they would be very happy to get a Bollinger La Grande Anneè (any vintage will do).

Which Champagne would You treat your lover?

My lover is an easy soul to please, it has to be Chardonnay, it has to be Cote de Blancs, it has to be from the village of Cramant. The Producer should definitely be Diebolt-Vallois and the Cuvée Fleur de Passion.’

Which Champagne would You treat your boss?

‘I don’t have a boss, but if i did my boss would have to get to know small producers, but this is the hardest category to find just one. If i only got to choose one experience to give, it would probably be Nicolas Maillart Chaillots Gillis.’

Which Champagne would You treat yourself?

‘As there is one particular Champagne i really love, this is a quite easy choice. There is something about Krug Grande Cuvée that always hits the spot for me. Whenever i drink it my thought is «I really don’t need anything else than this»

Which Champagne would You treat a dream guest, and why?

‘I have a favourite historic person, this is of course Sir Winston Churchill. I guess it’s ok to bring my dream guest back to life to let him have a taste of the Champagne made in his honer. As 2008 is the vintage of choice these days, my choice would of course be Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2008 Magnum ( because i would also lika a taste).’

PS: IfI’m  the DJ, i could not choose any thing else than jazz. As I’m a sucker for the classic hits I would put on «Take Five by Dave Brubeck» and just let the shuffle decide what would be next.
